I’m here to answer any questions that you may have about starting therapy.
Below you’ll find answers to some commonly asked questions about counseling, scheduling, fees, and what to expect when getting started.

Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I do not accept insurance. Operating as a self-pay practice allows for greater flexibility, privacy, and individualized care for clients.
I can provide a superbill which may be used for reimbursement from your insurance. Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed, and coverage varies by insurance plan. I encourage clients to contact their insurance provider directly to verify out-of-network mental health benefits and determine whether superbill reimbursement is available.
What is your fee per session?
Therapy is an investment in your mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. My fee per session is $75.
How long are sessions and how frequently will we meet?
Each session is 50-55 minutes. Most clients find it helpful to meet weekly, while others may be at a point in their therapy journey where bi-weekly or monthly sessions are more beneficial. As therapy progresses, we may adjust the frequency of sessions based on your goals, progress, and current support needs.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Maybe there’s something specific you’re trying to work through — ruminating thoughts that keep you up at night, the recent death of someone you love, a difficult breakup, or social anxiety that’s holding you back at work. Or maybe you just feel disconnected from yourself and want help in finding your footing again. Something that makes therapy such a powerful tool for healing is the non-judgemental and confidential nature of the therapist and client relationship. It allows you to find insight and identify actionable steps for change in a safe and empathic environment that’s focused on YOU.
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Sometimes we simply need support, guidance, and a space to be honest without fear of judgment. Therapy can help you better understand yourself, navigate difficult emotions, and move toward the kind of life and relationships you want for yourself.
What is the process of beginning therapy at Blankenship Counseling?
First, you’ll contact me either by phone or email to let me know that you’d like to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call. During this call, I’ll ask about what concerns bring you to counseling and we’ll discuss if I would be an appropriate fit for your goals. If we decide to move forward, I’ll get some contact information from you so I can send your online intake paperwork through a secure client portal. Then, we’ll find a date and time for your first session that works for your schedule.
I ask that you complete your online paperwork at least 12 hours before your initial session. This allows me enough time to look over your information so we can have a productive intake session together.
Do you offer online counseling?
I do! I offer live online therapy through a secure telehealth platform. If you reside in Alabama but can’t make it to my office in Meadowbrook, we can discuss meeting virtually instead.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I ask that you notify me by email, phone call, text, or voicemail at least 24 hours before your appointment. Missed appointments or no-shows may be charged the full $75 session fee. I understand that emergencies happen, and fees may be waived in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as hospitalization, accidents, or other emergencies.
